Almost Rainy Kansas Wedding | Seattle Wedding Photographers
Rain was in the forecast. Not just a little chance. We’re talking 90% all day. We thought it could have been a Seattle wedding. We packed the umbrellas, and Monica did too. One thing was for sure, the rain wouldn’t dampen anyone’s spirits on this Manhattan Kansas wedding day. Joe and I thought for sure our streak of never having a rained out wedding (knock on wood) was over. It rained while Monica and her bridesmaids got their hair done. It rained while Steve patiently waited to see his bride to be. It even rained during family formals. And then we checked outside, and the rain had stopped. We tip-toed Monica and Steve into the courtyard behind the First Lutheran Church for a few quick photos (umbrella in hand!) to make sure we had some outside in case the rain came back in the afternoon. After a beautiful ceremony, the lavender-and-rice exit was on, as well as photos in the park with the bridal party – who were all wonderfully prepared with umbrellas we had to use, even though it didn’t rain another drop the whole day. After having some fun at Hale Library on campus, we headed back to the church to recreate the first photo Monica and Steve ever took together – which is also how they met! On Fake Patty’s day in 2011, Steve was visiting his friends who lived next to Monica and her roommate. Steve’s motorcycle was parked on the sidewalk, and Monica wanted a picture on it, hoping no one would catch her. Right in the middle of the photograph, Steve walked out of the apartment, and told Monica if she wanted a photo on his bike, she’d have to take it with him, and climbed on the back of the bike. And just like that, the rest was history! To say we were thrilled to be a part of this wedding day would be an understatement. Monica and Steve have so much chemistry together and were an absolute joy to photograph! Check out their photos to see what we’re talking about.
