Caroline & Blair | Lake Crescent Engagement Photos

Caroline and Blair’s engagement session has quite the backstory. Their engagement session wasn’t supposed to take place at Lake Crescent at all. Our original plan were snowy engagement photos at Hurricane Ridge, and we had waited for the perfect clear day so we could see the Olympic Mountains. Apparently, everyone else was waiting for a perfect day, too, and there was a huge line of cars waiting at the ranger station because the parking lot at the top was full. Not wanting to take our chances of not making it to the top, we decided to head to Lake Crescent, and just see where the session might take us from there. The light and scenery at Lake Crescent were perfect, and we had a ton of fun around the Lake Crescent Lodge with Caroline and Blair, who, as you’ll see, are amazing together. After some time at Lake Crescent, they both agreed to follow us on what could have been a wild goose chase up a forest service road to an old fire lookout that Joe had found when looking for places to off road with our Subaru, Ingrid. (Insert plug for Subaru here, since Caroline and Blair were also driving a Subaru!) We definitely had an adventure climbing the ridge, where areas of the road were somewhat washed out from spring melt, and fallen trees had been more or less successfully cleared from the road. There were times when we thought “If the road gets any worse than this, we’ll have to turn around” and often “We hope Caroline and Blair don’t think we’re crazy!” The whole drive immediately became worth it when we came around the corner to find a patch of fog lifting out of the trees where the late afternoon sunlight was filtering through. It was an amazing setting, and we didn’t even mind when just a little farther up the road there was a downed tree that caused us to turn around and head back to the lake. We’re so thankful to be able to photograph couples with such adventurous spirits!
