Megan and Vince contacted us a few months before their big day about their idea Lake Crescent elopement with just the two of them, and two close friends. They both felt a special draw to getting married in Olympic National Park surrounded by mountains and forest.
Their wedding day started in Port Angeles, the gateway to Olympic National Park. Where both of them anxiously put on their wedding day attire in the company of a close friend. We had only met them briefly before, but within minutes of our arrival we felt their warmth for each other, and everyone around them. They had the sweetest first look just outside their hotel, and from that moment on we knew our job was going to be easy.
Initially, the idea was for them to elope at Hurricane Ridge overlooking the Olympics. As we were watching the webcam from the hotel a dense layer of fog quickly engulfed the area. We made the drive up the mountain with high hopes, but the cloud cover made seeing each other nearly impossible – much less the mountains. We were blessed with a few minutes of sunshine at an overlook and made the most of it (and some of our favorite images). Then, we decided to drive on to Lake Crescent for their vows.
We arrived at the lake and looked out towards the fog covered and rain drenched landscape, then back at each other with worried expressions. Megan and Vince pulled in not far behind us, and jumped out of the car ready to get married. They blissfully ignored the curve ball mother nature had thrown them. It was at that moment that we both knew Megan and Vince were the perfect Salt and Pine couple! That adventurous, go anywhere, do anything attitude meant that even in the pouring rain they were saying their vows on the dock. After a quick, but meaningful ceremony performed by Megan’s best friend, and a couple million raindrops, they were married. Our memory cards were filled with one of our favorite elopements to date!
