Blake & Brad’s Love Story | A Ski Lodge Inspired Winter Gorrono Ranch Wedding
Blake & Brad’s Gorrono Ranch wedding day was easily an early highlight of our year. But, oh, did we have an adventure getting to their wedding. Since it was a destination wedding in Telluride, CO, we made all our necessisary travel arrangements in advance – including flying in to Denver 3 days prior to make certain we would get there in time. As luck would have it, Denver managed to get a freak snowstorm the day of our flight, shutting down the airport, and causing a great chain of events that resulted in no flights being available to us until Friday evening. Oh boy. After a minor (ahem, major) freak out, we loaded our Subaru full, booked a couple hotel rooms, and drove the 21 hour road trip to Telluride to make sure we got there on time. In our business, you got to do what you got to do, and we take that very seriously. We arrived in Telluride just in time to have Joe’s favorite pizza – Brown Dog – and a nap before we met Blake & Brad and their guests for rehearsal dinner. We love being a part of destination weddings because it often means we get to be a part of a weekend of celebrations, and really get to know everyone. (It was a even more fun for us in this case since a past and future S&P couple were also in attendance!) The morning of Blake & Brad’s wedding we awoke to a small layer of fresh snow on the ground. A small taste of what was to come that afternoon. Blake and Brad got ready together, and then we rode the Gondola to the top of the mountain for a few photos, before we hopped in a snowcat to drive us up the slope to Gorrono Ranch. The whole experience of having their wedding at Gorrono Ranch was awesome. From snow cat shuttle rides, to the hot toddys and Irish coffes, to the outside ceremony facing the mountains. Nothing compared, though, to the emotion and joy evident throughout the day. It was truly amazing to be able to capture those moments for Blake & Brad.
