Announcing Adventure Photography Sessions! | Seattle Wedding and Adventure Photographers

We’re so excited to finally announce a new session we’ll be offering – The Adventure Session! The two of us have LOVED shooting engagement sessions in National Parks like Mount Ranier, Arches, and Grand Teton, as well as numerous State Parks and other hiking trails, and we want to shoot in places like these MORE! Then, we had an inquiry for a couple who were looking for photographers to capture some of the fun things they were planning for their honeymoon (talk about an AWESOME idea!) and we thought, “That would be a DREAM! How can we do this MORE?” So, enter the idea for the Adventure Session! Our hope is Adventure Sessions will give us and our couples the ability to have their engagement session, bridal session, or day after session in more locations off the beaten path that are meaningful to them! AND it will allow us to include vacation, honeymoon or adventure photography sessions for couples visiting (or already living in) the Pacific Northwest as well!

Let me explain more about the specifics of an Adventure Session.

Adventure Sessions are for couples whose ideal location may be off the beaten path. Adventure sessions make the normal hassles of distance, time and convenience less of a concern. Adventure sessions can be used as an engagement session, day after session, bridal session, honeymoon or vacation session, or just because! Adventure sessions give you 2-3+ hours of shooting time, travel within 150 miles of Silverdale, WA or Seattle, WA, and includes extra hiking and/or other travel time outside of shooting hours. Adventure sessions are meant to be a little more open-ended, and customizable to fit your needs!

This differs from a standard engagement session in a lot of ways! Our standard engagement sessions (or day after/bridal sessions) include 1-2 hours of shooting/hiking/travel time, up to 2 locations, and travel within 60 miles of Silverdale, WA or Seattle, WA.

We want to be able to shoot you and your loved one at the summit of your favorite hiking trail, or at your back country camping spot. We want to hike out to your favorite beach, shoot sunset and then wait for the starts to come out for more photos. We want to tell your love story at a meaningful spot – however many miles it may be outside of the city center. We want to come with you on your adventure – hiking, biking, surfing, canoeing, or camping. We promise we won’t be third (or fourth) wheels. We know you can have pretty pictures in a park in Seattle anytime; we want to capture an experience, a memory, and an adventure with you that is as unique and genuine as your relationship is!

Pricing and availability for adventure sessions is heavily dependant on the scope of the session, so please contact us about your ideas! If you are looking into our wedding packages, any included engagement session or day after session can be upgraded to an adventure session as well!

2016 Adventure Tour | Seattle and Destination Wedding Photographers

Adventure Wedding Photographers Seattle Maine Kansas and Destination

Seattle & Destination Wedding Photographers 2016 Adventure Tour

We are Seattle and destination wedding photographers who frequent Oregon, Colorado, Kansas (Joe’s home state), Missouri, Maine (Darryl Ann’s home state), and the rest of New England for weddings each year. We feel so lucky as wedding photographers that we are able to travel all across the country making connections and photographing some of the best days of our couples’ lives. We’re already booking 2016 weddings, and our year looks like it will be full of travels! Since we’ll be all over the place, we thought a list of our 2016 travels would be handy to help you find out where we are. We like to call it the Adventure Tour! If we’re in your area, most likely we’re photographing a wedding or visiting a National Park (it is our goal to visit all of them in North America in our lifetime). Usually if you catch us soon enough, we have availability for a cup of coffee, an engagement session, an elopement, and sometimes a wedding while we’re in town. If you don’t see your state on this list, we are probably dying to visit it, and we’d love to have an adventure telling your love story. Whether it is near or far, on a mountain or in the water, engagement or wedding – get in touch! We have plenty more 2016 dates open, and we’d love to add more states to our list. Shooting weddings in Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Michigan, California and New York are on the top of our bucket list! Drop us a line here and tell us your story, we’d love to hear it. -Salt & Pine

Coastal Maine Couples Session | Maine Wedding Photographers

There is no question Joe and I love traveling. So, when I was going back to Maine in June for my college roommate and best friend’s wedding, we knew we were going to make the trip an excursion. It should also be well known that Joe and I can’t possibly go anywhere even remotely picturesque without at least attempting to photograph someone while we are there. (If you don’t believe us, check out the time we photographed Brittany and Will during our vacation to Wyoming.) We were so excited when Katelynn and Mitch won a couple’s session with us, and that we would be able to photograph them while we were visiting southern Maine during our excursion along the coast before we flew back to Kansas. It was so much fun to be Maine wedding photographers instead of Kansas wedding photographers for a change! I never actually grew up with the ocean right outside my back door (being from the northern part of the state), but I do miss it a lot while I’m landlocked in the Midwest. I actually went to school with Katelynn and Mitch, and it was so much fun to reconnect with them during their session. They share such a fun love, always joking with each other and laughing together. We walked along a precarious cliff, balanced on rocks, and got our toes wet in the tide (okay, maybe that was just Katelynn and Mitch, because of some bad placement on my part!) and enjoyed our time at sunset at Fort Williams Park. After walking back to the parking lot from spending the last few moments of light out on some rocks, the security guard actually had to enforce closing time with his megaphone. Whoops! Thanks for a great time, Katelynn and Mitch! We are so glad we had the opportunity to photograph you on our trip!

Rustic Winter Wedding Styled Shoot | Maine Wedding Photographers

Maybe it’s the girl in me. Or maybe I’ve been around a higher-than-normal number of weddings the past year. But I have been DYING to plan something wedding-related myself. Since I have no business planning a wedding, (yes, even that stereotypical “dream wedding” board on my Pinterest is disguised as “wedding ideas for our brides!” And yes, I do think I’m fooling people by doing that. Did it work?) how better to channel all that planning energy than into a styled wedding shoot! Our rustic winter wedding styled shoot took place in January, while I was on my first real visit home to Maine since I moved to Kansas. Being back in my old stomping grounds made choosing a location – the Aroostook State Park ski trails – so easy. I knew I wanted to feature the rustic and romantic seclusion of the Northern Maine woods in the shoot. And I wanted to feature how absolutely amazing a winter wedding or bridal session can be! Amanda and James held their own winter wedding last year, and I love how they appreciated the beauty and adventure of the season as much as I do.

In styling the rustic winter wedding I wanted to stay genuine to a simple, rustic elegance that the area has. Nothing too over-the-top. The focus had to be on Amanda and James, and their love for one another, and, of course, just a little bit of focus on the scenery of the State Park and the Northern Maine woods I grew up in. A simple cupcake and hot cocoa reception seemed to fit the rustic winter wedding theme perfectly, as well as pine needles and pine cones for decor. (Maine is the Pine Tree state after all.) Most of my purchases were from the thrift store in town, a few DIY projects, as well as collaboration with some vendors. The logs for our tablescape came straight out of my dad’s woodpile in the backyard. The mugs and mason jars I picked up while I was thrift shopping (I seriously couldn’t believe my luck. Is there such thing as perfectly mismatched mugs? Because it happened.) The blankets were leftover Christmas presents my mom had picked up for Yankee swap gifts. I whipped out the best Betty Crocker in me and made the cupcakes myself, as well as the paper cones for our birdseed throw! I have to thank Joe Geske, Cook’s Florist, and Carter’s Crafts for help with the invitations, bouquet, and hand-painted signs, respectively. Everything went so right in the planning stages of the shoot, I knew somewhere we had to hit a hiccup – and sure enough, mother nature gave us sleet and freezing rain the morning of the shoot! I’m not sure what I expected, given it is Northern Maine in January. But, I said I wanted to stay true to the charm of Northern Maine, and mother nature held me to that!

Thank you SO much to the vendors who made this shoot possible. And a special THANK YOU to Amanda and James, who drove in from Limestone in less-than-ideal conditions to model for me. I am so grateful the two of you offered to step in at the last minute!
