Montana & Steve’s Adventure Session | Winter Artist Point Engagement Photos

Montana and Steve are both avid mountaineers, and when they booked their wedding with us we knew immediately an adventure session in the mountains was in the cards. After a little brainstorming, we all settled on snowshoeing to Artist Point this winter. We waited about 5 months for the weather to be perfect for their Artist Point engagement photos, and it totally paid off. Typically an easy drive in the summer, Artist Point in the winter is a whole new story. To be honest, we’re glad we had those 5 months to get in shape for the hike (which totally kicked our butts anyways). Montana and Steve were such great sports as we slowed them down significantly on the 2 mile hike. But, when we got to Artist Point we saw exactly why they wanted their session to take place there. We had 360 degree views of the surrounding Cascades, including Shuksan and Baker, many of which the two of them had climbed. After a quick breather and outfit change (you mean she didn’t snowshoe in that dress?!) we had a blast photographing these two on the ridge, trying not to fall thigh deep into the snow. We stayed at Artist Point until dusk, when the mountains lit up organge with the sunset, and then started back down the mountain, where we promptly lost a reflector off our backpack (RIP Neewer – whoever found it up at the Mount Baker Ski area probably has a lot of questions…) But we had to pause for one last shot towards the bottom and capture Montana and Steve in their gear, headlamps and all. We are totally in our element when we’re having an adventure, and it was amazing to share that experience with a couple who is admittably a lot more adventurous than we are!
