Sam and Ili had an incredible edge with their Almquist Family Winery wedding. While not being stunning brides on their wedding day, they share the responsibilities of managing the Almquist Family Winery tasting room in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle. While Sam runs the front of house, Ili runs the kitchen. This allowed them to control every detail of their wedding day, and know exactly what they wanted. When they contacted us, we knew we would be a great fit!
Sam and Ili’s wedding day began with both of them getting ready with their parents and sisters. Ili got ready off site at the Edge Water Hotel in downtown Seattle. Ili, being from Hawaii, did everything she could to prevent her morning from being on “Hawaii time”. A term she used affectionately. Sam chose to get ready upstairs at the winery, a room filled with incredible natural light and a view of the canal and Fremont. They wanted to incorporate their surroundings into their wedding day and chose to have their emotional first look in front of the Fremont Ave drawbridge, a location that fit them perfectly. Their ceremony was on the lawn facing the water and filled with plenty of emotion. Everything was decorated with stunning tropical florals, greenery, and pops of citrus and oranges.
Although the day was perfectly bright and dry, their night ended with rain. Being the types of photographers to never miss a great opportunity literally pouring down on your head, we took Sam and Ili outside for an incredible set of photos in the Seattle spring rain. Under the shelter of the greenhouse at Almquist Family Winery, Sam and Ili and their guests danced the night away!
